Getting from Monaco to ski resorts

Monaco is your perfect base for ski-and-swim weekend escapes in 2020. Many local ski resorts can be reached in two hours or less by car, while helicopter services make these journeys a lot quicker and can also take you to further afield ski resorts such as Courchevel or Meribel. You can ski at all times of the year in the larger resorts like Les 2 Alpes, which offers permanent glacier slopes for skiers and snowboarders alike.

Gréolières-les-Neiges (1h20 drive) – Ideal for beginners and unlikely to be busy during the week, with the bonus of offering a stunning sea view from the mountains. 

Isola 2000 (1h30 drive) – Suitable for all levels of skier, and offering fantastic conditions even into late Spring, meaning you’re likely to enjoy nice temperatures for your swim. This resort also offers paragliding. 

Valberg (1h40 drive) – Family-friendly resort located in the Mercantour national park, offering plenty of alternatives to skiing for those who love the snow but can’t find their feet.

Auron (2h drive) – Ideal for more experienced skiers, with plenty of opportunity for off-piste. One of the largest local resorts, Auron offers sweeping panoramic views.

Limone Piemonte (2h drive) – This Italian ski resort is over a hundred years old, and is popular with snowboarders and off-piste skiers thanks to its bounty of virgin powder.

Les 2 Alpes (5h drive, helicopter recommended) – This year-round snowpark is well-suited for all levels of skier, and is remodelled yearly, making it perfect for weekend escapes in 2020. Alongside beginner’s slopes, the off-piste is also incredible.

Ski and swim day itinerary

8 AM 

Wake up in your exquisite hotel or stunning rental home – Monaco has a fantastic selection of both. Enjoy a hearty breakfast featuring freshly baked pastries, toast, cheeses, omelette and fruits, as you’ll need something to fuel all of that skiing. Get changed into your ski gear.

9 AM
