Visiting Houston to propose marriage

Houston is one of the most romantic places in America to choose to pop the question. It’s also the center of buying high quality diamond engagement rings with specialists such as on hand at their store or through their online site to guide you through buying the perfect jewelry to symbolize lifelong commitment.

There’s an incredible choice of locations to choose from when asking ‘will you marry me’ as well as some great tourist attractions to visit together between ring shopping trips. Here are just a few ideas of where to head to whilst you’re in Houston either before, during or after you’ve taken a breath and gone down on bended knee.

Houston Zoo; 6200 Hermann Park Drive, 77030

The perfect day out for so many reasons, Houston Zoo is the opportunity for animal lovers to stroll through the giraffe, zebra and ostrich feeding platforms and hold hands as you offer food to these fantastic and rare breeds. Spend a lunchtime in the calm of the African Forest exhibition, rediscover your childhood on the carousel ride and then end the perfect visit with an evening proposal at the secret garden reflection pool. Lit by twinkling glimpses of sparkle in the trees and lined with lush trees, it’s somewhere you’ll both never forget as you present the ring you’ve chosen. There’s also a restaurant by the water where you can celebrate your future together and even return to hold the wedding there as it’s licensed for marriage ceremonies.

Space Center; 1601 NASA Parkway, 77058

To find out more about the sky above us and the incredible wonders of traveling high above the atmosphere of planet Earth, visit the Space Center. This fantastic attraction has seen over 17 million visitors discover the past and future for space travel since it opened in 1992. If you take a day out of your vacation there you’ll leave full of wonderment for the technologies used and the admiration of the highly trained teams who spend months or even years orbiting the planet.

If you want to really celebrate the stars above us and propose whilst there to someone who lives and breathes astronomy and those who have spent their lives breaking new boundaries, the perfect place would be at the Destiny Theater.

James Turrell Twilight Epiphany Skyspace; Rice University, entrance 8 & 18, Stockton

Open almost every day from an hour before sunrise to 10pm, the James Turrell Skyspace is a fantastic art installation where at sunset and sunrise a spectrum of colored lights fill the area as onlookers watch the sky. It’s engineered for perfect acoustic sound and whilst sitting in the specially designed seating areas, the senses are filled with audio and visual wonders.

Free to visit but reservations are almost always needed for the sunset show. There’s a number of ways to reach the campus on public transport and if you decide to propose, wait until the visitors have left for some private time alone.

Kemah Boardwalk; 215 Kipp Avenue, 77565

The Kemah Boardwalk stretches alongside the beach and Ocean and whilst there will always be lots of other people around, it never feels crowded. With events all year around such as the annual Christmas boat parade and the firework-filled New Year extravaganza complete with live music and dinner cruises, it’s the location for anyone who wants to combine beach, sea and the opportunity to watch the world go by.

Propose as the sun goes down and the lights on the boats twinkle and you’ll have the memories of a lifetime to take home with you.
